The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) of California investigates alleged violations of the Political Reform Act and is similar to the Federal Election Commission (FEC). It was created by California Proposition 9 in the June 1974 elections, known as the Political Reform Act of 1974, which: * Requires reports of receipts and expenditures in campaigns for state and local offices and ballot measures. * Limits expenditures for statewide candidates and measures. * Prohibits public officials from participating in governmental decisions affecting their "financial interests" and requires certain public officials to disclose certain assets and income. * Requires lobbyists to register and file reports showing receipts and expenditures in lobbying activities. ==See also==
